First Year Students
First Year Advisor - Dean Emily Zenick
First year students work with Dean Emily Zenick in the Undergraduate
Deans' Office to discuss appropriate course selections, sequencing,
major and minor options, along with any personal concerns.
Additionally, Dean Zenick can assist students in accessing all
needed campus resources.
Typically, first year students meet with her during the fall semester for a
first year check-up and then on an as needed basis. In the spring semester, Dean
Zenick also works closely with students on academic probation to offer help and
advice for academic success.
All MSB first year students take a full year of Accounting
and a semester of International Business. These are the only business courses
taken in the first year. Additionally, students must complete the math
requirement, Calculus I, during the first year. To complete their
schedule, students will select from liberal arts courses in humanities and
writing, history, government, philosophy, psychology, sociology, theology,
classics, and foreign languages.
